We forget the power we have when the Lord fights our battles for us.

We fail to trust in His power – not remembering He is near.

We forget ourselves, our inheritance in Christ, and who we are in Him.

We forget His works and the miracles displayed in our lives when we revert to fear, mistrust and doubt.

We say we believe His promises, but we don’t really. If we are being honest, we have restricted Him in certain areas of our lives. There are places where we refuse to relinquish control and have not allowed Him to touch them with His power.

Sis. Don’t be deceived. We can sing all the worship songs and declare the words at every conference and still choose fear.

When the battle begins, although we are equipped with every good thing, everything we need, we still run and turn away in fear. Fear can show up in many forms. It can look like overanalyzing, justifying, or as was my case – preoccupation with relationship. All this, to avoiding seeing and feeling …. all this to avoid confrontation of the root issues and to avoid the pain of reflection that comes with the inner work.

The root of this was always my own fear. My fear of relinquishing control.

Fear. It has many faces. But here is the thing that stands out to me from the verse in the previous post (Psalm 78:10). They refused to move forward in faith because they did not trust. The verse says that they refused to trust and move forward. Why? Because they forgot!

Can you relate? I sure can. Life can get so crazy sometimes. We are running here and there at the speed of light – never slowing down, sometimes intentionally, so that we don’t take the needed time to reflect and let Him deal with our hearts. The time needed to remember. So that we don’t
“have the time” to evaluate, to check in with ourselves. We become overly preoccupied with every committee, work project, volunteer opportunity, romantic relationship, anything good or bad that can distract us from the fact that we are fearful …. to be still, to evaluate, and to trust.

This is why we must examine our own hearts. To allow Him to do the inner work. He will lead.

Today, I choose to remember. I want to remember. How God has shown up for me in my life. Even in the small things. Every shift, even in the unseen. Will you also choose to remember with me?

Remember the faithfulness of the Lord in your life. Venture a few minutes a day to just pause, reflect, and praise Him for how He has shown up for You.

The same God that was with you back then is with you right now sweet friend. He is unchanging and He hears your prayer, honors your faith and loves You lavishly despite anything you did or will do. He is working in the unseen. Even though it does not look like it today. He’s that good. Let Him show you! Taste and see!

Forgetting our Power
